Here is an example of a stellar website blog design that I admire.

A website that I follow daily, Webdesigner Depot’s single focal point is the eye-catching header design. With the use of multiple vectors concerning instruments that are imperative for the field, it relates back to the blog’s main purpose: design.

With the use of red as the predominant colour, as well as a warm colour pallete sprinkled throughout the blog, it gives of a very welcoming sensation, with enough white space along the post areas to provide a pleasant reading experience.

Some may argue that the actual logo itself is very limited and bland, but as a brand itself it fits in perfected with the header. Having two extravagant designs sitting at the top tends to make things clash, therefore the subdued logo design is the perfect match to the header background.

This is definitely a great blog and an instant bookmark, both in terms of content and design.
